EXPLODED VIEW SLEEPERS

Mexico/Berlin experimentalists Exploded View have followed their wonderfully eerie comeback single 'Raven Raven' with another extraordinary slice of unsettling electronica. Walking the line between ethereal ecstasy and nightmarish industrialism, 'Sleepers' nods to a plethora of iconic sounds ranging from Broadcast's distinctive use of fuzzy analogue synthesizers to My Bloody Valentine's otherworldly shoegazetopped off by Anika's brilliantly brooding Nico-esque vocal style. Alongside the arrival of 'Sleepers' the band offered the following philosophical introduction, "Break free and fly above the clouds outside the lines that we were told were good for us. Free yourself from your own prison. Remove the shackles of fear to find that the unknown is not so scary and can be full of precious discoveries (sometimes only possible during sleep). A constant trip comes to an abrupt and unresolved ending with the collapse and eerie shriek of the Arp Solina." Their second album Obey comes out via Sacred Bones on the 28th of September. - Holly Mullineaux
